Close games and upsets characterized the end of the curling season for both of Burnsides curling leagues this year.

In the Metro Transit-Dartmouth Teachers Curling League, Team Russell went into the playoffs with the number one seed, but fell early to eighth placed Team Thain. This opened the way for third place Team Peverill to challenge second place Team King for the championship, emerging with a 10-3 victory in the final.

The official final order for the Metro Transit-Dartmouth Teachers Curling League was: 1. Peverill, 2. King, 3. Mclaughlin, 4. Thain, 5. Hollett, 6. Rowsell, 7. Russell, 8. Settle, 9. Hart and 10. Clarke in the order they finished in the playoffs.

Over in the Burnside Curling League, the playoffs went a little more as expected, with the top two teams during the regular season – AML and Black & McDonald, respectively – advancing to the championship final.

Both teams proved to be evenly matched, with the leading changing hands several times before Black & McDonald tied things up heading into the eighth and final end. It eventually came down to the final shot of the end, with Black & McDonald needing to use the hammer to dislodge AML and score a final point to claim the championship.
