They may be Three Quarters Newfie, but they’re 100 per cent champs. Sara Brown and her Three Quarters Newfie rink withstood a hard charge from the Down Under team to capture the 2010 Burnside Curling League championship.
After finishing in sixth place during the regular season, Three Quarters Newfie rode a series of upset victories to the championship final.
Their opponents, Down Under, took a similar path to the finals, but had to come from even further back after finishing in last place.
The two teams kept things close in the early ends, until Three Quarters Newfie started to pull away in the second half to ultimately record and 8-4 win.
Both teams are fairly new to the league, which bodes well for the league’s future.
