Clerk threatened with knife

At approximately 10 a.m. this morning, a male entered the Dewalt Store on Ilsley Avenue in Burnside. When staff weren't looking, the male suspect put numerous items in to a duffel bag and fled the store.

A staff member gave chase, but the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the staff member, who backed off and returned to the store to call police. The area was checked, but the suspect has not yet been located.

No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'5 in height, dark coloured eyes wearing a long coat and a blue toque with white stripes and carrying a blue duffel bag. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
