If you're looking to party locally this New Years Eve, there are a number of good options available here in the Burnside area.
The Rodeo Lounge on Ilsley Avenue is always a good bet if you want to get down and dirty on December 31. The long-standing cabaret has a roast beef dinner with all of the trimmings on the menu, followed by dancing with the Gordie Duggan Band and a live DJ. Expect door prizes, party favours and champagne as well. Be sure to make your reservations well in advance as this is always a well attended event.
The Park Place Hotel on Brownlow Avenue is another hotspot this year. The evening begins with a formal cocktail reception, followed by a three-entree buffet, including Prime Rib Carvery and an array of freshly-made side dishes. You can shake your bootie later to a live DJ and even spend the night and enjoy the venue's excellent New Year's Day Brunch the next morning for just a few dollars more. Again, reservations are recommended.
If you're happy just to get out with the gang for a few drinks and do some dancing, the Parkside Pub on Highfield Park Drive will be rockin' the house with food, booze, party favours and a live band.
Both Monte's Showbar and Grill on Waverly Road and Dave Doolittle's Sportsbar and Grill on Tacoma Drive are also open with the usual mix of food, drinks and dancing. My Son's Place on Wyse Road has been closed the last two New Years Eves, so expect the same again this year.
Wherever you end up this December 31, please play it safe with a designated driver or a taxi. Remember, the police will be out in full force looking for drunk drivers.
Happy and healthy holidays everyone!
