The Rodeo Lounge wins peoples hearts again
Burnside - The Rodeo Lounge in Burnside is doing everything right according to the record number of voters who chose the popular country music hangout as the Burnside business of year in the hospitality sector for the second year in row.
This year, the Burnside Business of the Year awards split the hospitality sector into two categories, those venues with fewer than 10 employees and those with 10 or more. The Rodeo Lounge took the category with 10 or more employees.
Owner Carla Balser says she and her staff are thrilled with the award.
The staff worked very, very hard to earn this award, Balser says. Our customers, who are second to none, make is easy for us to serve them, but we do our very best to offer what country music fans want.
Balser says the lounge is working now on the addition of another performance date for Johnny Reid in November. We sold out, and there were disappointed fans who missed out, so we did what we could to get him back and added another show.
In the last year, the Rodeo has also featured Sammy Kershaw, the Kentucky Headhuntes and Julian Austin, among others.
Balser spreads her praise beyond her own establishments walls.
We want to thank the Burnside News for putting on the awards program, Balser says. Its a great way to get to know about other businesses in the park. The awards just keep getting better and better every year. The new trophy is gorgeous.
The Rodeo Lounge has always been a strong supporter of the larger community, hosting a number of fund raising events that support local causes, including Feed Nova Scotia.
Weve got a good thing going here and were part of a good thing, Balser says. We like to give back to the community.
