Bayers Lake

While the good weather was reason enough to remain outdoors, I was looking forward to my visit to Cheachie’s Grill in the Bayers Lake Business Park. Several friends of mine had recommended the spot and the glowing online reviews only made me more curious.

My dining companion – the irrepressible Ms. C – laughed out loud when we read the restaurant’s tagline “food so good you’d swear we kidnapped your mother”, responding with “Feel free.”

Knowing the task ahead of us we chose to go light with our starters, sharing a fresh House-Tossed Salad ($5.65), replete with crisp Romaine lettuce, tomato, peppers, red onion, cucumber and bits of carrot.

Ms. C then threw all caution (and her diet) to the wind, sinking her teeth into The Big Earl Burger ($12.95). An impressive testament to the adage “size matters”, the crunchy Kaiser roll came fully loaded with Grade-A beef, bacon, melted cheese, lettuce and tomato. A layer of zesty onion rings was a nice touch.

Harkening back to my Italian roots, I opted for the equally hearty Chicken Parmi ($12.95) – a fine bow-tie pasta smothered in a thick and rich sour cream sauce. Although a tad heavy, it still settled well in the belly.

Other menu options included salad, steak tips, fish and chips, pizza and tacos.

While the meal was a little pricey, it proved to be excellent value for the money. The quick service and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere only added to the experience.

And if the lunch hour menu is any indication of what the eatery has to offer then I must try their Sunday brunch, which I am told is the best in the area.

Take out is available, though it is recommended to call ahead with your order if possible. The restaurant also offers catering services for both corporate and private events.
