Burnside - The first annual Big Burnside Clean Up was a huge success. As a result of the hard work of 180 Burnside employees, more than 250 bags of litter was removed from the streets. Many people stopped to thank participants for cleaning up. Some crews even appeared on CTVs super hour news. Aliant had one of the largest crews, with about 20 people picking up litter along Akerley Boulevard. The company also helped out by providing a second truck to haul away the over abundance of garbage bags. Other sponsors involved in the event were Enterprise Rent-A-Car, River Breeze, Scotsburn and All Occasions. Groups donating draw prizes included RRFB, Conserve Nova Scotia, Dalhousie Eco-Efficiency Centre, HRM, Tim Hortons and Clean Nova Scotia. Plans are now underway to make this an annual event.

Just wanted to say that I participated and it felt GREAT to clean up. Lots of people honked or waved as they went by.

It only takes an hour out of your time - so join us next year. Better yet ... bend down and grab something off the street every day. It will keep our Park beautiful!!
