Burnside - Second Source Powers new Green Power Outlet and showroom is the first retail outlet in Atlantic Canada to offer the whole package in green energy solutions, from solar to wind to other eco-friendly products.
Just inside the front door of Unit C at 202 Brownlow you can find displays of wind turbines, solar panels, back up generators, grey water recycling, electric bikes, and bio diesel makers, all designed to provide cleaner, greener solutions to todays energy needs.
Second Source Power is the leading provider of wind and solar systems for commercial and residential properties in Atlantic Canada for both off-grid and grid-connected systems. Second Source Power has extensive experience in net metering, which allows the owners of wind or solar PV to connect to the power grid so that any excess power generated may be sold back to the power utilities for energy credits.
Second Source Power has also joined forces with Seaforth Wind Energy Inc., which manufactures the AOC 15/50, a state-of-the-art wind turbine that has been installed around the world, including in Canada, the United States, Scotland Morocco, Russia, England and India. Nova Scotia is also home to several AOC 15/50 wind turbines, including the Joggins Fossil Institute.
The AOC 15/50 is capable of producing enough electricity to power 20 average Canadian homes. Its ideal for commercial development, agriculture, community centers and municipalities. On a site with an average annual wind speed of 6.7m/s (15 mph), the AOC 15/50 will displace approximately 156 tonnes of greenhouse gasses annually.
Were very proud and excited to be Nova Scotias only manufacturer of wind turbines and we look forward to expanding our manufacturing capabilities and installing more of our wind turbines in Canada and all over the world, says Stan Mason of Second Source Power and Seaforth. This provides a tremendous opportunity for a Nova Scotian company to expand on an already successful wind turbine and to become a leading exporter of clean green energy.
Carbon-based energy sources are unsustainable, oil has gone above $130 a barrel and it keeps on climbing. We have great cost-effective solutions that provide a natural hedge against rising energy costs, says Mark Richard, president of Second Source. We have financing options available for our wind, solar and other renewable energy products.
For example, customers can purchase solar hot water systems installed for as low as $99 per month.
Solar hot water and solar air heating products may also be eligible for a 15 per cent rebate for residential properties and up to 40 per cent rebate for commercial properties.
Perhaps most importantly, these products benefit our environment making a cleaner, greener world, Richard says.
The team at Second Source Power has experts in management, marketing, law, human resources, engineering and construction management. These include:
Stan Mason, P.Eng., co-founder and vice president of Seaforth Engineering Group Inc.;
David Lombardi, P.Eng., co-founder and president of Seaforth Engineering Group Inc.;

We have a first class team with world leading products. says Larsen, now chief operating officer for Second Source. It is great to see a NS company embracing the market for clean and green alternatives to petroleum-based energy. We need these providers to make it easy being green.
One comment: Mark is quoted saying that Carbon-based energy sources are unsustainable... . In fact, bio-based Carbon sources, such as waste-based bioethanol and biodiesel, algal biodiesel and biomethane from food and ag waste and from sewage, will certainly provide an important piece in the sustainable energy puzzle in the future of HRM.
Have a green day...
