Burnside -
The Revolution, Canada's largest indoor cycling fundraiser, will take place once again at MacPhee Pontiac on April 23rd. MacPhee Pontiac and GoodLife/Nubody's Fitness have returned as the presenting sponsors of the event to benefit the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation and the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief.
The Revolution began in 2006 with a five-year commitment to raise $500,000 for the hospital's new CT scanner. This year, responding to the overwhelming need for support in Haiti, the Revolution committee voted to share 2010's proceeds with the Canadian Red Cross to help Haitian earthquake victims. A $20,000 donation, matched by the Government of Canada, has already been made in advance to the Red Cross.
"On behalf of the Canadian Red Cross, we are so grateful to receive these funds from Revolution, its participants and the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation. This is such an inspiring example of how our communities rally together to support our most vulnerable neighbours here in Nova Scotia and around the world," says Ismael Aquino, regional director of the Canadian Red Cross in Nova Scotia.
"We're very excited going into our fifth year," says Revolution Chair and Nubody's Founder and former President, Dean Hartman. "This event clearly demonstrates what our great corporate community can do when it comes together to give something back and this year not only will we raise a significant amount of money for the CT Scanner campaign, but also make a major contribution to relief in Haiti."
