Burnside -
Bluewave Energy Limited of Burnside is being recognized among Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies of 2009.
After opening up its books, operations and management to careful scrutiny, Bluewave has demonstrated business excellence through a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the calibre of its management abilities and practices. All businesses can benefit from the characteristics and common themes emerging from this year's winners.
"Canada's 50 Best Managed program is an excellent benchmark for entrepreneurial companies to measure their strength against. Atlantic Canadian companies are doing well and the entrepreneurial talent is strong. We're pleased to see all of these successes recognized," says Shannon MacDonald, Deloitte partner and Halifax regional leader of Canada's 50 Best Managed program.
One other Nova Scotia company joined Bluewave on the Top 50 list this year: Eastlink of Halifax.
The 2009 50 Best Managed Companies generated $9.8 billion in combined revenue, had an average revenue increase of 23 per cent and employed more than 39,000 Canadians.
Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed private companies with revenues of more than $10 million.
Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices.
The awards are granted on three levels: 1) Best Managed winner (one of the 50 new winners selected each year); 2) Requalified member (repeat winners retain the Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review); 3) Platinum Club member (winners that maintain Best Managed status for a minimum of six consecutive years).
2009 Best Managed winners, Platinum Club members, and Requalified members will be honoured at the Best Managed 17th annual, invitation-only Symposium and Gala on March 8, 2010 in Toronto.
Program sponsors are Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post and Queen's School of Business. For further information, visit www.canadas50best.com.
