Halifax Regional Municipality has taken the bold step of creating the Atlantic GatewayHalifax Logistics Park, a two-phased logistics park located within Atlantic Canadas largest business park, Burnside. Focusing exclusively on the logistics industry, the Atlantic GatewayHalifax Logistics Park offers companies an ideal location to conduct transloading, distribution and warehousing activities.
The first phase of the park officially opened today and has already attracted two large anchor developmentsConsolidated Fastfrate and Armour Transportation Systemsboth of which are engaged in transloading, distribution and warehousing activities. New lots of serviced acreage, which can be customized to fit the distribution needs of any customer, are available for immediate acquisition.

The services we are offering importers, exporters and shipping lines around the world is second to none, said Wesley Armour, President and CEO of one of the current tenants, Armour Transportation Systems. Our facility in the Halifax Logistics Park will offer customers a total solution under one roof and means we are a cost-effective, reliable part of the North American supply chain. The Armour Facility will offer over 100,000 sq. ft. of logistics space featuring 22 loading doors and a cross-dock facility with 60 doors on 25 acres of land. A potential second phase could offer an additional 90,000 sq. ft. of warehousing space.
The park sits at the heart of Canadas Atlantic Gateway. The first phase of the logistics park will provide the potential for over 125 acres within Phase 12 of Burnside and future expansion capabilities in Phase 13 Burnside.
Transload facilities play an increasingly important role in attracting containerized cargo. Armours new facility will further enhance the value-added offerings at the Port of Halifax, said Karen Oldfield, President & CEO, Halifax Port Authority.
The chair of the Halifax Gateway Council, Stephen Dempsey, says the logistics park is an invaluable addition to one of the worlds great port cities.
Getting goods to and from the biggest markets in North America places like Memphis and Chicago is even more reliable and cost-effective with the addition of the Atlantic Gateway Halifax Logistics Park on Canadas East Coast, said Mr. Dempsey.
