If you're a fan of open houses, then September 12 was the day for you in Burnside.
Three companies – Stellar Industrial Sales Ltd., Hercules SLR and Swish Maintenance Ltd. – all had open houses, inviting customers and friends to see what they had to offer.
Hercules started the day off with an early morning session and breakfast geared toward contractors that had to fit it in before hitting the job site for the day. Events continued all day and Matt Corey, the branch manager for Burnside, says it was a great way to show off the company's new combined location.
"We've had between 200 and 250 people through here today, introducing them to all the products and service we offer that many of them had no idea we offered," Corey says.
At the top of that list are Hercules' water bags, each capable of holding 35 tonnes of water – equivalent to about one month's water supply for the average household. The bags are typically used for load testing on cranes, indoor lifts, oilrigs and other offshore platforms.
Just across the Park for Hercules was Stellar, which was finding a similar reaction from its visitors as they walked through the door.
"It doesn't matter how long they've been a customer it never fails – they come in the door and they say, 'I didn't know you had that," says Chris Maher, product/branch manager for the location at 94 Simmonds Dr.
Maher says his goal for the open house was simple: "Get as many people into our building as possible. There's nothing better for our sales than getting customer into our building."
Swish's open house took on a bit of an event flavor, staged as it was in a large outdoor tent and featuring a savoury smelling catered lunch.
All three events featured an array of suppliers providing a low key trade show of new products and services with factory representatives on hand to answer questions and maybe help customers solve some of those problems you always forget to ask about until you see something that just might be the perfect fit.
