New $9.5 million cold storage warehouse features 60,000 sq.ft. of transshipment space
Barry Smith, president of Nova Cold Storage, has announced plans to build a new facility in the Atlantic Gateway-Halifax Logistics Park area of Burnside.
The new $9.5 million cold storage warehouse will feature 60,000 square feet of transshipment space to allow the company to better serve its clients in the frozen-fish and processed-food industries. This will double the company's capacity when compared to its existing facility on Thornhill Drive, which will be shut down once the new warehouse is up and running.
In addition to greater capacity, the new facility will offer customers greater security, better access and the ability to have trucks loaded and sealed inside the refrigerated docks.
Nova Cold Storage doesn't anticipate any job losses stemming from the closer of its old location. In fact, the company will be hiring additional staff once the new facility is complete.
Looking forward to even more expansion in the future, Nova Cold Storage has purchased a big enough site to allow for easy expansion of the warehouse as the need arises.
