• Bourque Security Services has set up shop in Bayers Lake on Crane Lake Drive. The company was formed in 1998 and is locally owned and operated. It originally focused primarily on premise and physical security, as well as a small deposit service. However, the company has rapidly expanded its scope to include repossession, civil constable duties (i.e. serving of legal documents), fire scene management and forensic patient transfer escorts. It also operates its own instructional division. The Bourque team offers services in both official languages, including event security, mobile patrol, port security (MARSEC Qualification), prevention and loss control, alarm response, VIP security, and surveillance. Bourque’s tiered structure puts management in direct contact with clients and ensures mobile supervision on the job. Supervisors on patrol provide a full report of all site checks and an aid to all security staff while on duty. Reports from all job locations and security patrols are forwarded to the company’s head office for thorough review and timely follow up.
• Mr. Lube’s newest location is up and running on Lacewood Drive just before the Veteran’s Memorial Highway overpass next to Bayers Lake. The franchise got its start in 1976 when Arnold and Clifford Giese, a father and son team, set up their first Mr. Lube location in Edmonton. The goal back then was to deliver no hassle, fast turn-around oil changes without having to make an appointment. The concept proved popular with customers and in 1981 the Giese boys set up a franchise operation. Mr. Lube locations soon started popping up all over Canada. Since then, it has grown into Canada’s largest quick lube brand and has evolved into a complete automotive maintenance service provider with more than 115 locations and new additions.
