Maritime Paper Products Ltd. and CEP Local 1520 have signed a new collective agreement, ending a strike that began March 9, 2012.

"We are very pleased unionized employees return to work today," says Gary Johnson, president, Maritime Paper Products Ltd. "We were pleased to meet with the union last week and both negotiating teams worked hard at concluding a tentative agreement. We focused on resolving outstanding issues and I'm pleased to say the tentative agreement was ratified by union members today and by our shareholders."

The new contract extends for six years and includes increases in salary and benefits, effective May 2011. In addition to the salary agreement, Maritime Paper Products Ltd. and CEP were able to resolve outstanding pension issues.

"The new contract provides stability to our employees and customers over the next six years," Johnson says. "The company is grateful to customers for their support during this challenging time. We'll all be relieved to get back to work and focus on our customers."
