Of the 31 companies recently recognized by the 2011 Consumer Choice Awards, just over half were based in a business park.

This remarkable showing demonstrates the strength of product and customer service being offered by Halifax's business park tenants, especially since it's the voice of the consumer and the companies' peers that determine the winners of these prestigious awards.

The Consumer Choice Award is an initiative of Consumers' Choice Institute (U.S.A.) and Consumers' Choice Institute (Canada), which retained Leger Marketing - a leading independent Canadian research firm - to conduct a survey in major U.S. and Canadian cities.

The awards are unique in North America, as the winners are determined by consumers and not by a panel of judges. It covers a broad range of categories of interest to the public and to the business community. Its purpose is to publicly identify those establishments that have been voted by consumers as being their choice for excellence.

‘Tangible' Benefits

The benefits are tangible and substantial, as the recipients become the focus of the business community and share in the attention given by the media.

The prestigious gala award presentation, the media coverage and the publicity generated by the Consumer Choice Award increases consumer awareness of the winning firms.

This award gives recipients an important edge over their competition. It provides additional sales potential, motivates the recipient's employees and improves morale and productivity.

Participants enjoy a wide array of promotional materials and advertising, as well as valuable socio-demographic data that reveals the recipients' competitive position, enabling them to adjust and plan future strategies.

The Consumer Choice Award is considered a seal of excellence. As such, it serves to enhance the city's business climate. For recipients, the award not only constitutes the crowning achievement of their efforts, but more importantly it also represents the most valuable reward of all - the knowledge they have earned the trust and loyalty of consumers.

By joining the Consumer Choice Award's exclusive ranks, our business park recipients acknowledge their appreciation and respect for the many consumers who voted for them. By fully utilizing their prestigious award, recipients can increase their business potential as never before.

CCA Methodology

Leger Marketing conducts an open-ended survey amongst two major groups of consumers, the general public and the business community. Consumers are asked: "Which business is your choice for excellence in each category? Please consider the elements of quality, service, value and appearance."

Consumers all across North America are surveyed to gather their opinions, perceptions and expectations regarding the services they purchase each year. Recognizing and promoting business excellence since 1987, Consumer Choice Awards is the only organization to determine the best service providers by conducting independent market research that's statistically accurate.

Leger Marketing, a leading Canadian-owned market research firm and a member of the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN) of Market Researchers, is retained to conduct the consumer and business surveys. The research methodology determines all service providers within a community and ultimately selects the top ranked companies only in order to establish the winner within each industry.

Consumer Choice Award's approach represents the majority of people in a specific market and isn't influenced by extreme opinions. They are no biases of very satisfied and/or very unsatisfied people that influence the end results.

Only people from a specific city are surveyed and only their answers are tabulated to determine the top-ranked company. This is the only organization across North America to recognize business excellence by conducting market research surveys that are statistically accurate. No other organization can make that claim.

The goal of the Awards is to recognize organizations and individuals that are truly representative of their cities without the influences of industry insiders, advocate groups and unethical business practices. No more than one vote per person is tabulated. Third parties have no influence on the selection process and only the research company tabulates the survey results. Winners have been selected because they deliver the optimal value for their services and goods.

Recognizing Business Excellence

The Consumer Choice Award marketing platform enhances the ability of small to medium-sized businesses to compete with larger corporations by providing unique marketing initiatives that differentiate them in the marketplace.

It also represents the most valuable reward of all: the knowledge that a company has earned the trust and loyalty of consumers in its community.
